Who are you?

My name is Talisa Wolters, I am 30 years old and work at ODMedia as a Media Operator.

ODMedia history

I started working as a Media Operator in June 2021 and I am still working in this position.

How did you come to join ODMedia?

An old-colleague of mine that I was still in contact with was working at ODMedia as a Media Operator at the time. I told her I was looking for a new job and she informed me that they were hiring new employees. She always spoke with great enthusiasm about ODMedia which is why I decided to apply and that’s how I ended up here.

What is your educational background and previous work experience?

I studied Art and Technology with a specialization in Broadcasting at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede. I did my graduation internship within the production department of RTL. Following my graduation I became a Media Manager at TVT Media.

What is your job description?

As a Media Operator, daily recurring actions include the encoding and quality check of videos, syncing audio dubs and subtitles, writing XMLs and uploading content.

I ensure that the content of our customers is uploaded according to the desired specifications, on various channels such as e.g. Amazon Prime. I also oversee uploading of content to the ODMedia owned channels MojiTV and Fear.

What do you see as (a) challenge(s)?

The biggest challenge for me is detecting and solving errors within incomplete or incorrect deliveries. Receiving content that is not in line with the required specifications occurs regularly but it is our responsibility to deliver a complete file to the platforms.

Do you have any tips for people who want to apply for your job?

Affinity with media is certainly a must. Other than that there is nothing that we cannot teach you. If you are interested in this position, I can definitely recommend it, go for it!

Which key competences are important within your job?

You have to be very precise for this position, as well as stress-resistant, a team player and it certainly helps if you are tech-savvy.

What do you do when you are not working?

I like to discover different cultures and locations by travelling and going on city trips. I also enjoy going to music festivals with my friends. One of my greatest passions is beauty pageants. I often watch and follow these.

What are you proud of?

Before working in the media industry, I participated in several Miss pageants. I was very successful in these elections and often won prizes at a high international level. That success is one of the things I am most proud of.

So imagine you are 70 years old, what would you like to look back on?

I hope that when I am 70, I can tell you that I have always stayed true to myself throughout the years. And also that I have been able to keep doing the things that I love.

In which four words would you describe ODMedia?

Motivated, united, hardworking, personal.

How do you experience the company culture of ODMedia?

I feel that the company culture is very pleasant and enjoyable. Everyone works hard towards the same goal, but each colleague always remains friendly and humane.

Which company activities at ODMedia outside of work do you remember most?

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to experience these activities yet. When I started at ODMedia, everyone was working from home due to the pandemic. Therefore it was not possible to organize any gatherings or parties. Now that we are out of lock-down I am looking forward to the famous ODMedia parties. I have heard many good stories from my colleagues!

How did you experience working during the pandemic?

Of course it is much more fun to work together with your colleagues at the office. Unfortunately that was not possible during the pandemic. So I worked from home for the majority of my time here at ODMedia. Fortunately, everything was very well arranged from the beginning which enabled me to create a great working space at home.

What would you tell someone who would like to come and work at ODMedia?

I would definitely recommend working here, I enjoy it very much!

What did you think of the interview?

I think it was very nice to do! I am also curious about the interviews with my colleagues. In this way I can get to know them a bit better since we all have been working from home for a long time.
