MATERIAL DELIVERY

Assets can be uploaded to ODMedia through our Faspex solution. We will provide a setup link for your Faspex environment along with a brief user guide. This is the fastest and most secure way to deliver your content.

For both handling and safety reasons, we will typically reject external download links. Download links from professional, industry-standard solutions such as Aspera, Media Shuttle, or Signiant may be accepted, but additional handling costs may apply, depending on the volume and scope of work. Consumer-based download solutions will be rejected regardless of the above.

This is the fastest and most secure way to deliver your content.

HANDLING

Please make sure to only provide the assets that are required for delivery, and refrain from sending more assets than necessary. Failing to do so might result in additional ingest and processing costs.

CONTAINER

The required container type is Apple ProRes 422 HQ or ProRes 4444 in their original frame rate and aspect ratio, with video, audio, and timecode embedded.

Other file types such as XDCam may be acceptable, please confer with ODMedia before delivery.

VIDEO

A minimum of 1 frame and a maximum of 1 second of black at the head and tail of the program is recommended.

We prefer to receive videos without:

  • Colour bars;
  • Slates;
  • Commercial breaks.

AUDIO

Preferred audio specifications, with a documented channel layout:

  • 24-bit at 48kHz;
  • Discrete audio channels (one track per channel)
  • Only a 2.0 stereo mix if a 5.1 surround mix is unavailable.

DOLBY ATMOS

A Dolby Atmos® mix can be provided in either of the following formats:

  • Dolby Atmos Master File (.atmos) with attributes
  • BWAV ADM File

Please consider the following:

  • All bed channel setups are allowed.
  • 48 kHz, 24-bit.
  • Near-field mix required.

SUBTITLES

ODMedia recommends Netflix-approved subtitles in PAC, DFXP, or STL format.

Contact us for more information on these specifications or the options for making your subtitles Netflix approved.

If the video contains foreign languages next to the original spoken language, Forced Narratives are required.

TRAILERS

Please deliver trailers with the same frame rate and aspect ratio as the original program.

Trailers should not contain:

  • URLs (www.odmedia.com);
  • Timed events (“This Christmas” or “Coming Soon”);
  • Any form of nudity;
  • Ratings;
  • Burned-in subtitles.

NOTES ON HDR MATERIALS

Netflix only accepts Dolby Vision-graded content. HDR10 is not accepted. Dolby Vision materials can be submitted either by a sidecar metadata asset or embedded metadata in the media essence.

GENERAL REMARKS

Material containing the following examples will very likely be rejected by Netflix, and potential adjustments we perform may introduce extra costs.

  • Upmixed audio, e.g. from stereo to surround;
  • Upscaled video, e.g. from SD to HD;
  • Advertisements, promotions, and website callout links;
  • Censored materials, including mutes, bleeps, and blurs;
  • Hardcoded (burned-in) subtitles are not allowed.
  • The original aspect ratio must be provided;
  • The quality of the material must be equal to or greater than the original master format;
  • Pixelation, interlaced artifacts, and other ‘subpar’ issues;
  • Localized video (only video in original language is allowed, unless pre-approved by Netflix);

ODMedia will always consult with the content provider about fixing rejections in-house. Please keep in mind that serious video errors and/or dropouts, severe audio dropouts, etc. are beyond our ability to fix and would require the client to provide new source materials. This also means source files need to be ingested again.
